I had a “first” today – we hiked up to 10,400 ft. elevation at Great Basin National Park to Stella Lake. We started out at 9,800 feet and went up another 600 ft. We could both feel it in our lungs, but we stopped often and drank plenty of water. At one point, not far from the lake, we got a little light-headed, but again, we rested and it passed. It was fun being above the snowline for a change. Pushing beyond previous limits and happy about it. The photo above is of Stella Lake. The other photo is of a large stand of old-growth birch trees we encountered along the way.
We listened to a travel podcast about USA UNESCO sites and found we’ve been to all but 9 of them. That surprised us.
