While staying in Flagstaff we visited Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument. This is what remains a thousand years after the eruption. The ash and path of the lava is still very evident today.

After visiting the volcano, we drove further and visited Wupatki Pueblo Trail where we received a borrowed booklet from the visitor center and walked around the ruins here learning about the lives of the First Puabloen People. While there we saw two new birds, a Thompson’s Solitaire and a Rock Wren.

From there we visited Walnut Canyon National Monument but decided not to hike.
The same day we visited Walnut Canyon we drove out to visit a place that has been on my bucket list for a long time; Meteor Crater.
