Seattle greeted us with yet another cancelled excursion.
At this point, I’m beginning to think the Excursion Department sees our names appear and immediately says, “Nope. Too unpredictable.”
Fortunately, we’ve been to Seattle several times before, so we weren’t terribly heartbroken. Customs required us to get off the ship anyway, and once we were standing there on dry land, we kind of looked at each other, shrugged, and said, “Well… might as well wander.”
So wander we did.
Our highly organized and carefully curated Seattle adventure included:
- Finding cash.
- Finding snacks.
- Walking farther than expected.

Somehow, after about a mile and a half, we found ourselves standing near the Space Needle, which is admittedly a pretty solid landmark to accidentally stumble into.
I snapped a few photos because it’s practically illegal to stand near the Space Needle without taking at least one picture, and then we slowly made our way back toward the ship.
The remainder of the afternoon was peak “Karen and Alan” energy:
Alan worked on bird and wildlife photos.
I worked on lesson plans for my art students.
Not exactly the wild Seattle adventure the brochures might promise, but honestly? It was a pretty perfect little day anyway.
