Baby Blanket

I find I am inspired by a wide variety of influences; nature primarily, but also uber-creative folks like carpenters, painters, jewelry-makers, crafty folk and the like. I love to have something going on at all times. Whether it is crocheting a baby blanket as a gift, or making bracelets for friends, or, of course, photographing whatever catches my imagination.

Currently I am working on a baby blanket for a dear friend’s new baby girl. I have no pattern. I am simply going with what feels right. I hope it turns out as good as my mind sees it to be. I’ve crocheted 75 across and 60 single crochet rows so far. The plan is to add some pretty ruffles around all the edges. That’s going to be my challenge. I haven’t crocheted like this in years, and I’m hoping I can remember how to make the ruffles like I used to.

And, later today I managed, after 4 tries and 3 pulls, I remembered how to make a nice ruffle. With this really cool yarn by Bernat, it came out incredibly soft and, if I do say so myself, pretty.
